After the slow and emotional episode of last week, Alphas soon returns to the fight as the hunt for Parish begins. Not only that, but Sean Astin guest stars as Mitchell, an alpha connected to Parish. We also see the return of Kat, as she returns from her training.
So Alphas kicks off with them collecting up Parish's fellow alphas and collecting them for interrogation. This gives the audience montage of team just kicking butt and taking names (no seriously they are). Then Rosen gets a break through when he discovers a location he knows Parish has a connection, and secretly sends Hicks and Kat to check it out. The duo soon finds a cabin with a guard guarding something. When the guard leaves, they sneak in and discover a man named Mitchell inside. Deciding not to leave Mitchell behind, Hicks and Kat take Mitchell with them back to Rosen. Back at HQ, the senator Rosen and Nina were pushing to stop Parish shows up, and Nina fears that senator will remember her. Gary also finds himself in a situation as his mother was in a car accident and he has to go to the hospital to see her. Back to the traveling Duo, they soon find themselves hunted by the guardian who is attempting to get Mitchell back.
It is great to see Kat back in action and teaming up with Hicks on a mission. Kat is exactly what Hicks needs too in a friend since Kat is a fresh pair of eyes to everything. In addition to Hicks being all surly and Kat excited for her first mission. If Memory Serves also adds some changes to Gary's life as his mother suffers from a stroke. All his life Gary has been taken care of by his mother and now its coming to a point where she'll need someone to take care of her. So how will Gary cope with this change in this life is the next question. It was very cool to see Sean Astin guest star in Alphas. Alphas has always managed to get these great guest stars and give them more than just a cameo appearance. The highlight of this episode was when Rosen burns SPOILER's SPOILER down, to just stick it to SPOILER. Rosen is not his usual calm self and its awesome.
There is not much that I can think of that went wrong in If Memory Serves. The guardian for Mitchell was a tad bit lame since he wasn't immortal, but had really strong bones. He got hit by a car, but walked away due to this ability. Didn't he like bruise his insides, or break a blood vessel or something? Then the only way to stop him is to drown him due to the heaviness of bones? I guess the only person who really can be invincible is Parish, who is really tormented by what he did. Which I'm not going to get into.
Only two more episodes of Alphas left to the second season. If Memory Serves is just building up the tension between Parish and Rosen. Rosen is fully committed to this war, and willing to stop Parish no matter what. Next week Need To Know airs as Skylar reappears, but this time in Parish's clutches.
