Supernatural 'Torn and Frayed': Decisions

Supernatural really knows how to return back from hiatus. Not only that, but the return of fan favorite Castiel. Castiel fans though, much as you were to see your angel back, you all suffer when you saw Castiel's situation. Don't worry though, cause I hurt with you. There was just too many hurts going on in Torn and Frayed between the Winchester, Castiel and Alfie. In addition to Crowley finally getting the upper hand and the Winchesters in the dark. Supernatural doesn't deliver the angst all episode as it also gives us some amazing one liners that probably had you laughing.

Torn and Frayed begins with Dean arriving at Sam's motel room, trying to explain why he faked that text message. Sam is still angry though and points out how he thought Amelia was in trouble or something like what happened to Jessica happened. Nice nod to continuity there Supernatural. Sam also mentions he still has a problem with Benny, and Dean still trusts him. Unable to see eye to eye, they separate and go their own ways. While Sam gets a visit from Amelia, Dean is visited by Castiel who asks for his aid in recusing an angel (Alfie), who has been captured by Crowley and is being tortured. So Dean and Castiel begin to investigate, and like Free to Be You And Me, Casitel is the ever so helpful detective as he delivers one liners that just add to the collection of one liners he already has. My personal favorite was, "That is his serious face". They manage to get a fix on Crowley's hideout, and enlist the help of our favorite prophet, Kevin Tran (briefly though). On the way to pick up ingredients, Castiel picks up Sam and convinces the brothers to work together. Together they work together to recuse Alfie.

Torn and Frayed really delivered this week as it gave us some laughs and sorrows. Whether it was Castiel declaring to people that was Dean's serious face, or Dean quickly hiding Busty Asian Beauties ("You saw nothing!" lol), Torn and Frayed was a welcome return to Supernatural's ever present humor. Although I thought I would never see Busty Asian Beauties on Supernatural again. It is always nice to see familiar faces though as both Castiel and Kevin Tran returned. Anyone love the stubble Kevin was rocking? Back to the main storyline though. The whole Naomi plot line is frustrating for two reasons; one, I really want to know what exactly she did to Castiel. Two, she is hurting our favorite angel, and that is not cool. On the bright side, she brought the Winchesters together in order to help Castiel.

There is really one thing about Torn and Frayed I didn't like, but it was something Supernatural had to do at one point right? As I have mentioned in earlier reviews I am not a fan of the Sam/Amelia pairing, and this is mostly because of the lack of chemistry between the two characters. In this latest development, Amelia is willing to cheat on her husband for Sam, and Sam is not so sure. What a positive relationship to display. So Amelia had given Sam an ultimatum about their relationship, and in the end, Sam choose Dean. The Winchesters will always choose the Winchesters. This at least puts that on the back burner, until Supernatural decides to mess with it again. Let's hope it's not soon.

So the second main story arc of Season 8 of Supernatural has begun, and the Winchesters team up to save Castiel from whatever has a hold on him. Both Sam and Dean have cut their ties with their various ties. Dean has said goodbye to Benny, and that could lead to later trouble as Benny seems to be in a rough patch this episode. In addition, we don't know what happened to Castiel, or what happening to him in heaven. At least Supernatural is back now, and is returning next week with the return of Felicia Day. Yup, Charlie back everyone!

What is your favorite Castiel one liner? Who do you think Naomi is?

FUN FACT: Did anyone notice that the demon torture guy, Viggo, was Vincent Gale who previously appeared in Supernatural in the episode Crossroad Blues as Evan Hudson?
