During my visit at Salute to Supernatural in Toronto, I got talking to a lady working at the table about promotional images and the lack of them. She soon suggested that I bring it to light on the CW forums, but I mentioned I had already hit the matter on my own blog. But did I really? I did mention it on my Supernatural Season 8 Wish List, but didn't really go into it. I think its time now, that I did.
During television shows runs, they usually always have new promotional images to show change with their characters and plots. Ever since season 6, Supernatural has not had any new images as they have been reusing their old images as of recently. Even in the new poster above you can see that the Dean and Castiel images (possibly the Sam) are from the season 6 promotional run. It doesn't matter how much you run the images through photoshop, they're still the same. Is it too much to ask that the CW invest some money into Supernatural for new images? Is Supernatural that much of a lost cause? We fans love new images of favorite characters, and it becomes the subject of many fan work that hits the internet. So, CW, do it for the fans.
On the positive side, we have a new poster for Supernatural! I am glad the CW is putting some effort into Supernatural again. We have a newish image of Sam (could it possible be photoshoped?) beside Dean in the middle of the road with Castiel and Crowley flanking each side. The poster also has this nice parallel going on with the heaven and hell thing going on each side. I think this season we can see both heaven and hell going at with the appearance of the word of God. I know I keep saying it, but I'm really looking forward to this season and what Jeremy Carver brings us.
Do you think the CW should invest in some new photos for the cast? Does the new poster meet your expectation? Does Sam look photoshoped?
