Thor: The Dark World Is A Taste of Marvel We All Know And Love

I have to say that I really love the whole universe that Marvel has built with these movies that ties it all together nicely. It remembers continuity and makes references to previous events and films. Thor: The Dark World takes place after Thor takes Loki back after Loki's capture in New York. Not only that, but took into account the time that has past between the movies. From all us fans, thank you Marvel for paying attention to details. Thor: The Dark World told the story of our favorite demi-god, changed from his time on Earth and faces the possibility of having to say goodbye to Jane in order to succeed his birthright. Thor is faced though with an old foe from the distant past and having to turn to his lying brother, Loki for help. Yup, Thor: The Dark World doesn't hold anything back, despite it's rocky start. Thor: The Dark World does benefit from it's amazing cast though as each character gets their moment to shine and get their part to play. Loki fans weren't disappointed either, as he was just simply fabulous in Thor: The Dark World. Not to mention one of the best cameos yet with SPOILER.

Thor: The Dark World starts off a bit rocky by giving us a little history on an old enemy of Asgard, the Dark Elves (no, not the ones from Elder Scrolls) Odin's daddy was the one who defeated the dark elves in the past and hid the Aether thing that looked like a Windows screensaver. Back in present day, Loki is brought in chains in front of Odin where he is sentenced to jail. Moving forward in time, there is a battle taking place and Thor joins in to stop the battle and save the people of the village. Back in Asgard, Thor observes practice as Odin comes by saying Thor is ready for the throne, but he needs to forget Jane. On Earth, Jane has finally tried dating again but is pulled away when Darcy brings to Jane's attention an unusual phenomenon that could be related to Thor. When Jane investigates, she is pulled to another dimension and infected with the Aether. In Asgard, Thor join Heimdall in looking over the universe, when Heimdall reveals he can't see Jane on Earth, causing Thor to make a journey down there to see if she's alright. Thor soon discovers that Jane is infected with something, and decides to take her back to Asgard for help. Elsewhere, Malekith and his dark elves awaken with the reappearance of Aether and begin tracking it down to complete their mission to plunge the universe into darkness.

As the obvious Marvel fan I am, I really did enjoy Thor: The Dark World as it reminded me why I loved this character so much (second to Iron Man). Thor: The Dark World really did benefit from pure talent and charisma of it's actors, more specifically Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston. In his last few appearances, Loki has been a character and I never really gave much praise to him about that. This time in Thor: The Dark World, I really have to give to Tom Hiddleston for knocking it out of the park and making me actually like Loki as a character despite his flaws. I just love Chris Hemsworth as Thor and there is no one in my mind who could be that character. He really grew as a character in Thor: The Dark World and is no longer that guy who used to demand things back in Thor. What was also interesting is the fact that it did bring somethings to light like the time apart Thor and Jane spent away from each other, and the fact that Thor is a demi-god and Jane a human. In fact, the story did not just have one plot point as it over time was altered and changed the dynamic of the movie. What is Thor: The Dark World without it's humor? Similar to the first movie, had humor spread out through the movie to help lighten up the mood or suit the situation. Whether it was Darcy barging in on Jane's date and eating food, or Loki making comments about their getaway. My favorite line in fact is when Loki tells Thor "I think you missed a couple".

Thor: The Dark World was no ground breaking movie, as much as it pains me to admit it. In a way it was a foothold for Avengers 2, as well as the aftermath of Avengers. Not to mention it's another addition to the already large comic book movie collection of our generation. Unlike the first movie, the opening of Thor: The Dark World less smooth as it just drilled information into your head. Like the director was ripping off the band aid and getting it over with. It had to be done at some point right? As for the visual effects for the Aether, it really did look like a Windows screen saver.

Despite the Meh start and not being the greatest addition to the comic book world, Thor: The Dark World is still a great movie to watch. With surprise cameos, humor, and some battles, Thor: The Dark World brings this certain level of enjoyment that makes it a treat in November and a great way to kick off the holiday movie season. Or does that start on American thanksgiving? Hint for you all, make sure you stay for all the credits. Like any Marvel movie there is scenes in the middle and at the end. So don't miss it. Rating Thor: The Dark World is a bit hard since it wasn't such a ground breaking movie, but it was a good popcorn movie and enjoyable to watch.
