Beauty and the Beast "Father Knows Best": So What's Happening?

I am glad that Batb is gone from what it used to be back in season 1, but with season 2 I am beginning to feel that it's becoming the same song new verse with each episode. Father Knows Best is a good example of what I'm talking about. It is neither bad or good, and it just stays the same. In the beginning of it was interesting to see that Vincent couldn't remember Catherine and was a total bad ass. Now, he is remembers her and has lost his bad ass edge in addition to Batb keeping with the flat line theory and Cat's real daddy. This is really nothing really ground breaking for Batb. I'm just tired of this whole Vincent is on a mission thing and Catherine shocked at what he did. Father Knows Best did though add more to the mythology of the show and add some new questions for Batb to answer.

Enter the VinCat montage as Vincent is slowly remembering all the moments he and Catherine kissed spend together as Father Knows Best begins. So he decides to pop into Catherine's apartment while Catherine is working out and informs her of his returning memories. In addition to only two more mission left before he's free and they can go off into the sunset and have a picnic. Well not the picnic, but thats exactly what Vincent wanted. Not until though, Catherine confronts her real father. Which she does and invites him to one awkward coffee session. Elsewhere, Vincent makes a move on his next target but the other beast overpowers him, and in order to save the man's daughter, Vincent kidnaps her. Word arrives to Catherine and she heads to the station which Gabe brings up his flat line theory again and as well as Vincent's target. So after an unsuccessful search of Vincent's place, Catherine teams up with her father to find some information on Vincent's whereabouts.

Despite the lack of interesting stuff, there were some good things about Father Knows Best that were decent. For me it was three things, VinCat, mythology, and, oh wait, that's two. I like that VinCat is coming back together and they are working it out. Vincent now desires to be with Catherine, and she with him. But there is more to this dynamic than "man likes female" as there is more to the eye than that. Catherine loves him, but she wants him to be more human than beast. In the past we saw Catherine accepting of the fact that Vincent is a beast with a heart, and she clearly wants that back. So basically we're almost back at them making kissy faces at each other without the whole hiding from Murfield thing. What was also cool was how Father Knows Best added a little more mythology to Batb about the beasts and this could make things interesting. As we have seen, there is different kinds of beasts that were created by Murfield and each served a different purpose. Now they introduce this new element with SPOILER how SPOILER affects beasts. Imagine the trouble it could cause. Now that is a storyline I hope Batb pursues.

Father Knows Best was a really good example of how Batb is getting too comfortable with what it has already that it's already losing what made it worth watching. Batb can't live on Vincent and Catherine's chemistry forever. Even that too will lose it's magic (sorry I had to say it). First, like I said last week, that whole flat line theory is stupid. I mean, even Vincent agrees with me on that one (he makes fun of it). Don't get me started on Catherine's real dad thing cause I can see how thats going to end already with her figuring out who he is and they fight and then he dies for her. Mark my words, it's gonna happen. Also, I want to start seeing what happened to Vincent and an explanation to how Vincent went from kidnapped to soldier. I think we deserve to know at some point and it would be a plot point worth discovering. My main issue right now with Batb is that each episode seems to be similar to each other. Basically Vincent goes to take on a beast, is stopped, Catherine steps into help, Vincent saves the day and they make a shocking discovery. Oh, and Catherine's biological father causes problems.

Father Knows Best could hopefully be the last of the "meh" period of Batb and be the starting point of something better. Seriously Batb put the flat line theory to rest. It's lame and not believable. JT and Vincent searched for years for a cure and didn't think of it? I feel like Batb needs to explain how Gabe came back and decided it was a good idea to run with it. Although Gabe is useful, I like how he is making connections between things in order to figure out whose a beast and the one who is pulling all the strings. If you don't get your game in gear Batb, I'm going to lose interest. So heres to hoping for a better episode! Later beaties.

What do you think of Batb's current arc? What story do you want to see told?
