Beauty and the Beast "Man or Beast?": A Line That Must Never Be Crossed

Killing is bad no matter what the reason. Batb has been dealing with this problem for a while now by sweeping it under the rug by saying, "it was just a beast trying to hurt someone", or "Vincent did it to protect someone". This week on Man or Beast?, now that the gang has figured out that Catherine's dad, Bob is the handler, Vincent wants blood. Catherine is done looking past this and wants Vincent to choose his human side or the beast side? I am officially changing Vincent's nickname from Badass Vincent to Douchebag Vincent, cause honestly I'm angry at him for making Catherine cry. Man or Beast? was a decent episode for Batb as it dealt with the ethics of murder and the law. Not to mention a major turning point in the VinCat relationship. One thing is for sure with Man or Beast? and it's that Catherine's lying FBI dad is going down.

Man or Beast? picks up with Tori and Vincent in a room armed with explosives and making a beast like escape. Despite Vincent's douchy actions last week's (which is like yesterday in Batb), Catherine is driving like a mad woman when she hears about an explosion at Tori's place and assumes the worst. At the scene, Catherine is extremely worried for Vincent, but Gabe sends her home to clear her head and then they take down her father. Home, Catherine discovers Vincent and Tori alive and hiding out at her place. This is when Catherine informs Vincent that Gabe has a plan to get her father in jail, but Vincent wants a more permanent solution. Like snapping his neck. Then plan itself is to get Bob to incriminate himself by tricking him into thinking that his partner is blackmailing him. Vincent doesn't like the plan, but works with Tori to track the man down. Catherine and Gabe plan the idea in Bob's head, while Tess and Gabe go shopping for a dead beast body. Every great plan, always has a problem that occurs in it.

Man or Beast? was a good question for our characters this week. What does Vincent want to be, man or beast? Back in season 1, Vincent was always learning to keep his beast in check and wanting to stay human and be normal. But now, with his memory gone it's like his morals are gone and that lovable guy is too. All that is left is the douchy pro-beast version of him. Sorry, Man or Beast? made me have a bit of anger towards Vincent. I can't wait though for when he does get his memory back (if that ever happens) and regrets what he has done. This can be contributed to the she beast/devil Tori who is discovering her beast side and loving it. Vincent has never met a friendly beast, nor a female one for that matter. Catherine has always been there for him, but Tori can understand what it is like and is telling him it's alright to be who he is. Ugh why?! Off that topic, the whole plan to get Bob to incriminate himself was brilliant and one of Batb's smarter plot lines. My favorite part has to be when Catherine was hugging her father, and expression on her face was just priceless. Catherine in a way was the true hero of the hour as she took a stand against her father, and Vincent's beast side.

Now as we all know, Batb is not perfect and there were things about Man or Beast? that need to be addressed. First JT and Tess, I'm just sure how I feel about that just yet but right now its a whole lot of awkward. Although it is a much improvement from the Joe and Tess relationship. Have I mentioned how douchy Vincent is this week? I love the guy, but this isn't him, it's the beast hormones or something like that. What also is not cool is bringing another woman to your possible ex-girlfriend's apartment. It is unbelievable how fast Tori learns to be a beast and how sucked up into it she gets. Basically shes a problem, but then again, one thats needed for the series. What really kills me is how idiotic Agent Reynolds and his bomb are thinking that the bombs seriously killed Tori and Vincent. No bodies and you think they didn't survive, come on. My big question now is when will we learn what was done to Vincent that caused him to be like this? They never really answered that.

Man or Beast? really took a stand on the morals of killing. In that past it was always in self defense until season 2 rolled along and Vincent become a killing machine. At first it was to protect others from beasts, and names on a list (should I expect an appearance from the Hood at some point?). Then he met Tori and slowly began losing control. Man or Beast? is a real game changer for Batb, now more than ever. I wonder how this will change the dynamics of the team and the show. I also kept my promise about being nicer about Batb, but it really didn't hurt that Man or Beast? was a decent episode to begin with. See you Beasties next year since Beauty and the Beast goes on hiatus.

Do you think Vincent is lost to everyone? What will happen now?
