Bones: Chemistry That Solves Crime Well

The cast of Bones.
There are many crime solving shows out there that each have their own twist that gives the show its own unique quality. In fact many prime time shows tend to focus on the sexual tension between the two main characters. Bones is an excellent blend of all of the above and more. With its witty humor and interesting characters you fall in love with, Bones is a thrill to watch. Although it may not be prefect, the higher qualities of Bones makes up for it. Bones currently has seven seasons under its belt and has an eighth coming in the fall of 2012.

The idea for Bones was inspired by real life forensic anthropologist Kathy Reichs. In 2004 Hart Hanson pitched the idea for Bones to Fox. Bones was soon approved and premiered in 2005 with Pilot. Bones was about the partnership between Forensic anthropologist Dr. Temperance Brennan and FBI Agent Seeley Booth. They are joined by the "squints", Angela Montenegro, Jack Hodgins, and Zack Andy. Later additions were made with Dr. Camille Saroyan, and Dr. Lance Sweets. Together, using their expertise, they solve crimes that seem impossible under normal circumstances.

I would first like to point out the relationship between Temperance and Booth. Being the prime time show it is, Bones needed a central romance between two characters. What make Bones great is the fact that it doesn't constantly showcase the relationship, but rather builds it over time. Bones doesn't make the characters constantly fight their attraction, but merely become aware of it over time.  Bones develops an excellent, strong bond between Temperance (or as Booth calls her "Bones") and Booth that eventually turns into mutual feelings in Season 7. The idea of Bones and Booth first began to form around in Season 5 and it took the viewers along for the ride as they watched the two realized their feelings.

Besides the Temperance and Booth characters, Bones introduces other characters that are just as important. There is the artist Angela Montenegro who is computer savy, eccentric and romantic. Jack Hodgins the bug, plant, and slime guy who is a conspiracy theorist as well a genius. Zack Andy is a rational thinker and is an intern studying under Dr. Brennan. Season 2 brought Dr. Camille Saroyan who was formerly a coroner in New York and she soon becomes the head of the forensic department. Dr. Lance Sweets, a young psychologist, arrived in Season 3 to determine the partnership of Booth and Brennan. Each of these characters bring a element to the show and are very essential to the success of Bones. I even found that the relationship between Jack and Angela was very interesting and sweet.

Between all the science, and crime solving Bones is one of the better shows on the tv. Although it is also one of the goriest. Bones is not a show for people who are sensitive to seeing dead bodies, flesh falling off dead bodies, dead bodies being eaten and other examples. When you watch Bones please keep in mind that the show inspires the bodies to be realistic, and so those who don't want to see this graphic material should look for alternative to watch.
