Voice Actor of the Week: Jason Liebrecht

Voice Actor of the Week is:
Jason Liebrecht

Ernest Jason Liebrecht was born on July 11 1973 in Texas. He is an voice actor for both Funimation and ADV films. He is also an actor in the theater world and in addition, provides English voices to Japanese films. He is best known as Syaoron from Tsubasa, and Train Heartnet from Black Cat. His other roles are:

-Hei in Darker Than Black
-Lavi in D. Gray Man
-Kouhei Morioka in Moonphase
-Vetti in Glass Fleet
-Toru Souma in BABLR FORCE EXE

Despite not doing as much anime dubs as any of the other voice actors out there, he has quite a bit of major roles in series. And he is very good at it. He is able to change his voice so it take a bit of guess work to guess its him. Like in Glass Fleet, who would have guessed he was the psychopathic ruler under that British accent thing.

For me personally, I have only watched five of the anime dubs he has done, and they're all good. First heard him in Tsubasa as Syaoron and later as Hei. To be honest I don't have much to say about him, mostly because I have heard some of his work and didn't know it was him. If that makes sense. On a side note, when dubbing D. Gray Man, he got into a car accident and was unable to travel. So Chris Patton had to fill in for him. On the bright side, it was only one episode. Hopefully we will see him in bigger projects soon and it will show his talent.

  1. I really enjoyed this blog =). Voice actors in a America should be given some more attention respect. Sure there's some really talented actors in Japan but America is very capable of producing the same talent.

I don't know if it's changed now, but from what I remember many english voice actors for anime dubs are reused over and over again. That can get pretty tiring.
