Supernatural "Pac-Man Fever": Felicia Day Steals The Show

Charlie. Is. Back. Boo yah. More importantly, Supernatural is back after it's three week hiatus. Returning with Pac-Man Fever, Supernatural picks up with the Winchester relaxing in the Batcave as Sam recovers from the second trial. All things aside though, Pac-Man Fever is really a filler episode for Supernatural as it builds up for future episodes and gives us back story on Charlie. Did anyone notice that little line about them not having nice things? It made me squee a bit due to Jensen usually saying that to Jared during conventions (breaking the wall again hhhhmmmm Supernatural?). Much as the plot was simple and straight forward, I did enjoy this episode as Felicia Day took the spotlight and made Pac-Man Fever a real treat.

So Pac-Man Fever opened with Dean waking up in a strange place in a weird outfit and it looks like the zombie Apocalypse has happened. the episode heads back 24 hours as the Winchester are resting up in the Batcave. Dean is reading up on something when Sam emerges from his rest. So Dean throws Sam a beer, which Sam doesn't catch (lol) and notices that Sam is not in his A game. Then word from Charlie arrives saying she is in town and has found a case. So they go out to meet Charlie and bring her back to the batcave, where she shows them the case she found. Since Sam is not well, Charlie decides to tag along with Dean on the case thus beginning her little montage of getting ready. So they start with the corner, but get nowhere there and decide to check out the next body that shows up, only to discover Sam on scene. So they all break into the morgue to discover the bodies gone and the trail covered up by someone. The guess is who.

So I really enjoyed Pac-Man Fever this week as it made me laugh. More importantly this marked Felicia quips (which I know are going to be remembered in Supernatural history) and the montage of selecting her clothes for her fake FBI outfit. By all means Charlie is a fan favorite in the Supernatural universe, and she always brings this upbeat element to Supernatural when she appears in an episode. Also love it when video games, movie and television references are made in Supernatural too. I bet you all loved her badass outfit in the video game thing. There was also some serious Winchester drama as Sam is suffering from the trials and Dean is forced to watch Sam suffer, unable to do anything. When those two hurt, we all hurt on the inside. What made it more bearable was when Dean decided to surprise hug Sam (love those siblings). My favorite line of the night has to be though, "I hate that thing. I want one".

Now what about Pac-Man Fever was not so hot. Well first the episode was advertised as a video game parody to me, but it wasn't. Sure Charlie did mention Pac Man, but only about 8-10 minutes of the actual episode was in a video game that was actually Charlie's nightmare. Where was my video game jokes? I don't count naming xbox, ps3 and showing us psp as jokes. I have a question, why does Dean only wear all the costumes? Sure he makes it highly entertaining, but could you imagine Sam pouting at the outfit hes in, or maybe secretly enjoying it.

Overall I did enjoy Pac-Man Fever as it made us laugh and sob on the inside. I also love how Supernatural made a point again to remind of us the "Supernatural" series within the story written by Carver Edlund. Thanks Charlie for reminding us of that. Not to mention the face Sam made at the mention of it. Hiatus is now over and we're in the long stretch now as Supernatural lays out it's final episodes. Which means we're going to be heading into some major main arc story now and seeing Sammy suffer due to the trials (my heart bleeds). Castiel returns next week, so see you all then. For now, I leave you with this hugging gif of my boys.
Dean surprise hugs Sam.
Did you like Charlie Bradbury's return? What do you think is going to happen to Sam?
