You know guys, at first season 9 seemed off to a good start and then it started to be just "alright". Blade Runners is an example of how Supernatural is loosing a bit of it's edge over the years. Or this could be because of Ben Edlund's departure. It's just that Supernatural a few episodes ago was emotionally damaging me and sending me off into an emotional mess, and now, it's not doing much. The one thing I can say about Blade Runners is that it definitely improved near the end of the episode where the real drama hit. We can just ignore the Snooki appearance cause honestly that was terrible. But it was things like Crowley labeling Dean's calls as "Not Moose", and the potential the mark of Cain storyline has, that keeps it interesting. Hopefully it will give season 9 the lift it needs to be so much better.
Blade Runners picks up with Sam and Dean in the bunker as Dean attempts to reach Crowley who has not been answering his calls for weeks. The reason being, Crowley is currently on a blood/sex binge in a motel room with another demon, Lola. Lola who happens to work for Abbadon, and reports Crowley's addiction. Back with the Winchesters, they decide to summon a crossroads demon to get a location on Crowley. The demon happens to be Snooki and basically tells them, no one knows where he is. They finally hear from Crowley where they discover what he has been up to. So they decide it's time for a detox in the bunker dungeon until Crowley tells them where the first blade is. They need Crowley's help to get the blade before Abbadon does.
There is some good despite Blade Runners' sluggish nature. Crowley was an treasure once he got out of his motel room/ blood drunk haze. He was acting like the devil he is by taking the answers he wanted and trying to steal candy from the machine. Heck he even wanted to be a part of Team Freewill for a bit, but that didn't last long. What really stood out though was the plot line of the mark of Cain that Blade Runners brought in. It was first introduced back in First Born, but the actual consequences was introduced this week. We all know Dean has this tendency to jump in without thinking of the consequences and I bet Dean never thought of this. I am really looking forward to see how Dean is affected by this and what this could do for the Winchester's broken relationship they have right now. Which surprisingly wasn't touched on in Blade Runners.
Now the bad about Blade Runners, but don't worry, I'll be gentle. First, the Snooki appearance. Supernatural advertised on that 30 second appearance and I really tried not to be judgmental. But it was terrible, or rather just bland. I mean was it supposed to be funny or something? I mean like in season 6 they were making fun of her and now shes on Supernatural? Just saying. I don't know what but the beginning of the episode really felt slow and uneven. I really hate that I'm finding Supernatural episodes to be dull while other shows entertain men (Person of Interest was awesome last night by the way). I mean it was Crowley dealing out the laughs this week, which was only a couple. Also, apparently Sam forgot about him telling Dean he can protect himself and he wouldn't save Dean. Although I can forgive that since Sam deep down can't give up on Dean. Put away the brother anger boys.
I am only hard on Supernatural since I know it can be better, and Blade Runners isn't without some good plot elements. We are gonna forever love that Crowley has listed Dean as "Not Moose" and calls him squirrel. That and Crowley was in a way, the true hero of the night. Also, let's forget the Snooki thing ever happened. CW, sorry try again. But hey, we are nearing the end of the season, so it should be getting better soon right? We have like 7 episodes left to the season to deal with the current issues and create something good. Next week Misha Collins directs!
What did you think of Blade Runners? What is your predictions about what will happen to Dean?
