So it all began with a fist bump this week with Necromancer. No seriously, Abbie taught Ichabod how to fist bump to celebrate the capture of the horseman. Although the fist bump confused Ichabod since it really made no sense (to him). Irving walks in wondering what to do now, and Ichabod suggests they interrogate the horseman for answers. So how do you get a man who has no head to talk? Find your friendly underground, undead cop, Andy Brooks (yes John Cho is back everyone). So while Irving goes to look for Jenny Mills, the duo begins searching the tunnels for signs of Andy. So when they find his hideout/home, Andy shows up, wanting them to leave since it's dangerous. Abbie asks Andy to help them by being the mouthpiece for the horseman since Andy is his necromancer. Andy refuses says they don't know what they are up against, but finally gives into Ichabod and Abbie. After finding the right tunnel (ha), they begin the interrogation of the horseman and this is when Ichabod discovers a necklace that belongs to Katrina that the horseman has. The history of the necklace takes us back to the early days when Ichabod was spying for the British, and Katrina was betrothed to his best friend Abraham. Questions will be answered, and Ichabod won't like them.
As I mentioned above, Necromancer was just another fantastic episode of Sleepy Hollow for many reasons. But I'm just gonna have to pick a few to talk about it. There is the obvious things that confuse Ichabod and things he does that make us laugh. Like the fist bump thing is just so awesome and gif-able. Then Ichabod doing and then was like "I still don't understand". What really took the cake was Ichabod leading the gang one way and then returning with "sorry, wrong way". Such an old gag, but I love it. Only Ichabod could pull it off. In fact, the whole team (which to be named) was fantastic. Loving how Irving is just easing into all this and helping out when he can. Excellent team addition to the team don't you think? Let's not forget Jenny who didn't do much this week, but was still a bad ass. Now I love how Necromancer really tied the mythology up this week with the Horseman, Ichabod, and Katrina. I honestly did not see that coming. It does explain a lot though as to why the Horseman never left Sleepy Hollow, and why he hunts for Ichabod. Let's not forget the true reason why Katrina is trapped in Purgatory. Now much as I love Ichabod, it was really cool to see him lose control a bit, giving him a flaw in a way. I mean the guy is tall, British, can remember everything, and is sexy, so he needs something to make him feel more human. Cause no one is that perfect.
Now there were somethings about Necromancer that I couldn't wrap my head around. My main issue is Katrina's backstory that we are slowly learning. In The Sin Eater we learned that she was a Quaker and Ichabod fell in love with her on sight and she was part of a revolution. Necromancer now tells us she was engaged to his best friend. So did he know her before or after he met her as a Quaker rep? Is this all taking place in the British colony or Britain? Ugh, Sleepy Hollow writers, please clarify. Also, how dense was Abraham since he could not tell that Ichabod was in love with Katrina since they were making goo goo eyes at each other. It could be attributed to Abraham's pride that he didn't see it until silly Ichabod told him. Oh Ichabod. Now, Andy, it is a wonder our heroes haven't caught you with all your wandering in the tunnels. Seriously.
Necromancer was a good fun of a episode as our heroes made some leg way on the mystery of the Horseman and Katrina. We also saw Sleepy Hollow's version of Team Free Will in action. We seriously need to think of a name for team instead of ripping Supernatural off (which in this case is alright). How about Team Revolution? Team Free World? Team Ichabod's Beard (jokes)? Team Witness? Vote below for the one you like best, or if you have a suggestion, comment below. The winner I will use in all my reviews from now on. After Necromancer I think I kinda ship Irving and Jenny together. There was chemistry there and you all know you saw it. Also, I believe this episode was previously titled "Into Darkness", which is funny since the writers of Star Trek Into Darkness created Sleepy Hollow. See you next week Sleepy Heads.
What should we name the team?
What did you think of Necromancer? What was your favorite moment of the episode?
