John Carter- Is it the next blockbuster?

These winter months have been proving themselves to be the months where the studios shove out movies they think won't be great as the ones they deliver in the summer months. In the months of January, February, March and April the movies are more like fillers, but once and a while something good will come out. So between movies like Ghost Rider 2, Act of Valor, and The Vow, there is a movie that can stand out from the rest (in March 2010 How To Train Your Dragon was a surprise hit). The question is, will John Carter be the the next surprise hit in March?

So the story for John Carter is about a tired, former commander John Carter who is somehow transported to Mars and is soon dragged into a war among the inhabitants of the planet. So its up to him to stop the war or help one side win. From the trailer all you can tell that there is some arena battle and then war breaks out and John is recruited. Other trailers show there is some hidden culture and world to discover. Oh did I mention is there is a pretty priestess named Sola? So you can expect some love story to go on between her and John. Also its apparent that John has some abnormal abilities. You know like being able to jump far distances, and lift heavy objects.

I will be watching Rotten Tomatoes to see how the reviews turn out and whether its worth my time to see it in the cinema. Although I think I'm more in love with the idea of seeing a movie than the movie itself. The character's look is similar to character design of Prince of Persia, but slightly different. The flying machines in the trailer look a lot like the pod racers from Star War 1. John Carter, lets see how you turn out. Trailer below with clips under it.
