Plucky Pennywhistle's Magic Menagerie

Clown behind Sam.
Supernatural is back. After its two week hiatus, The Slice Girls aired and saw Dean have a one night stand. On a side note, this weekend also began the kick off for convention season for 2012 in Nashville. The next convention will be in LA in March.

In this episode, Sam and Dean arrive after hearing about male victims having their hands and feet cut off with a strange symbol craved into their chest. So they go to investigate, and Dean decides to hit a bar like he did in Season 1's time. He eventually hooks up with a woman named Lydia, and has a one night stand with her. Little did poor Dean know that he managed to get her pregnant and give birth in about 36 hours.

I have to say I really loved the road so far segment at the beginning that reminds the viewer of all the stuff Dean has gone through, addition to the choice Bobby had to make whether to stay or go. Dean also is carrying around Bobby's old flask. This episode played on that idea again that Bobby is still there watching out for Sam and Dean. They previously explored this idea in Adventures in Babysitting. In its own way Supernatural answers the question about Bobby with Dean suggesting the idea and Sam telling Dean that they burned Bobby's body after his death. Although you have to wonder, how did the right paper show up. Another tribute to Bobby was when they had to go to an expert and Dean points out that their expert is dead. So they are forced to visit Professor Morison (you may recognize him from Buffy where he was the mayor of Sunnydale) who is seriously is out for himself. But he helps nevertheless due to false promises from Sam and Dean.

Season 1- Missy. Season 7- Emma
Now the topic of Dean's daughter. I have to say the episode did a good job of making us believe that Emma could possibly be different and not like the others. So when she came to Dean's door asking for help, you possibly believed her. There could be a possibility that Dean's gene came into play and made her do the right thing right? Unfortunately that is not true and she pulls a knife on Dean, which we, as the audience, knew was going to happen. This is also a similar situation to Amy, and since Dean is unable to kill her, Sam comes in and shoots Emma. One more note, the actress who portrayed Emma had previously appeared in Season 1's The Benders as Missy.

So next episode is a mouth full. Plucky Pennywhistle's Magic Menagerie promises to be a funny episode as Sam faces his worst fear; clowns. The story so far is that there is a string of murders at this pizza joint in Kansas. Its eventually known that its the pictures of the children's fears they draw that come and kill the parents. We can also look forward to seeing Dean chase down a man in a chicken suit for what reason I don't know. Although I'm not so sure on this episode since the writers are Andrew Dabb and Daniel Loflin who earlier wrote The Girl Next Door and Season 7, Time For A Wedding. Those episode were ok, but weren't terrible. Although I'll have some faith since they brought us Yellow Fever and After School Special. Looking forward to it nevertheless. I'll leave you with a word from producer Bob Singer.
