This is an idea that has been explored before. But Tower Heist pulls it off with its own charm. Although, its more of an adventure than a comedy. It has its funny moments, but they pretty much show you most of them in the trailer. Although the movie is very light hearted and will bring a smile to your face as well as groan moments that put you on edge.
So the story follows Ben Stiller's character, Josh, as he manages the Tower (you heard me, the tower. Original right?), and how he deals with all the employees. Then one of the residents of the tower, Arthur Shaw gets arrested for stealing money by the FBI. Not only that, but he had all the employee's pension money thanks to Josh giving it to him. Way to go. So then, after getting fired, Josh decides to get the money back by robbing Shaw. He enlists the help of Charlie (Casey Affleck), Enrique (Michael Pena), Mr.Fitzhugh (Matthew Broderick), and the street savy Slide (Eddie Murphy).
The movie was very enjoyable and did its purpose of entertaining you. It had an excellent cast and they all did an excellent job. The movie in the beginning was a bit slow, but it redeemed itself when the job began as it soon speed away. Other than that I don't have much else bad to say about it. Another thing to point out is more for the family fainted hearted people. Mainly people who don't like the sexual jokes and crude humor. It mostly comes from Eddie Murphy's character. It would be nice to see the movie in Cinemas for the audience. Movies seem funnier with an audience.
