Poor Sam. Poor Cas. Poor waitress at Biggersons. Supernatural really put the trails and tablets into perspective this week with The Great Escapist. This episode just ripped a hole in the Supernatural fandom as it pulled all our favorite characters through a ringer. Castiel was running from Naomi. Dean was trying to take care of Sam, who seemed not to be getting any better. Sam was suffering from the trials and remembering things from when he was young. Kevin captured. Then The Great Escapist threw more into the mix. Supernatural how you hurt me so.
So The Great Escapist picks up where the missing Kevin Tran is and it appears like he is still in Garth's boat when "Sam" and "Dean" walk in. The "Winchesters" reveal that they managed to grab Crowley's half of the tablet and give it to Kevin. It is soon revealed that Kevin is in some world Crowley made for him and that he is using a spell to make demons look like Sam and Dean. Elsewhere in the Batcave, Dean is trying to help Sam with his ailing health when they get a message from our favourite prophet, Kevin Tran. The message reveals that Kevin was probably found by Crowley and killed. With the notes Kevin gave them, Sam figures out where Metatron could be and they head out. Elsewhere Castiel is still eluding Naomi by using Biggersons, and Naomi decides it's time to give Castiel a reason to stop.
The Great Escapist was an excellent episode of Supernatural as it had everything Supernatural was good at. It had humor, gore, plot, and more. My favorite moments of the night have to go to Sam and Kevin. Sam got somewhat high like during The Great Escapist and started talking about farting donkeys. Kevin played the demons into getting him what he wanted and stood up to Crowley. Have I mentioned I love Kevin Tran? I will be very angry if Supernatural kills him off. I love the relationship between Sam and Dean and these trails are putting a strain on them and Sam's health. I love Dean's protectiveness of Sam and how he is trying his best to keep Sam safe. I guess he didn't like it too much when he found Sam passed out on the floor. Now onto Castiel, he was a bit of a badass this episode. I found it so funny that he was using Biggersons to elude Naomi and her angel crew. It was very smart, and not to mention where he hid the tablet. Such a good episode.
Now what went wrong. I didn't remember this, but the internet has reminded me that in season 2 Dean mentioned they never had been to the Grand Canyon, but yet in The Great Escapist Sam said they did. So did the writer forget? Or did the Winchesters? I think we can let this slide because that scene was just so damn funny. What else? Oh, I want to know what Metatron did to Kevin. Did he heal Kevin? Take Kevin's gift away? Does Kevin now have super powers?
Can you believe its just a few more episodes left to season 8? The Great Escapist is another excellent addition to season 8 and Supernatural. It made me laugh, worry, and hurt on the inside. Isn't it awesome Kevin figured out it wasn't the Winchesters because the demons were too nice? Ah, demons nicer than the actual Sam and Dean. That kills me. Also a big hint was Sam not looking like he was dragged through hell. For you Cas fans, I bet you were happy your favorite angel is back. I hope he kills Naomi. The line of the night goes to sick Sam with the line of "You rode a farty donkey".
What was your favorite moment of The Great Escapist? How do you think Sam will come out after this?
