There has always been this question in the Doctor Who universe that has been floating around and been touched on briefly and this week's episode, Journey To The Center of the Tardis gave us an answer to what exactly is inside the Tardis? Yes, if your wondering, the title is an obvious parody of the movie title Journey to the Center of the Earth. The Tardis has always been this mystery other than the Doctor himself and fans have heard throughout the years what the Tardis has but never saw it. Like the swimming pool. As I have mentioned before I always enjoy a good episode of Doctor Who when it's something out of this world, and exploring the Tardis is just beyond that. So throw in some danger, mystery, and some greed, and you have yourself a decent episode of Doctor Who.
So it started off with the Doctor trying to mend bridges between Clara and the Tardis by allowing Clara to fly the Tardis. In order to keep it safe, he turns the Tardis onto it's basic mode so Clara could just fly. This turns out to be a bad decision as just then scrapper spot the Tardis and decide to pull it in to salvage. With the Tardis on board the ship the salvagers attempt to open the Tardis when they notice someone is under it. The Doctor pops up and notices that Clara is missing and enlists the salvage team to help him by promising them a salvage of a lifetime. Inside the Doctor puts the Tardis on lockdown and activates the self destruct informing them they have to find Clara within the hour or the Tardis will explode. Thus the search for Clara begins as the character and audience journey through the Tardis.
I did enjoy Journey To The Center of the Tardis mostly because of the fact as a Who fan I wanted to see what the inside of the Tardis. I mean who wouldn't? Personally I wanted to see the swimming pool since Doctor Who kept mentioning it to us. It was so cool seeing the maze of rooms inside the Tardis, in addition to seeing what made it tick. Even though we saw so much of the Tardis, I still feel like we still don't know everything about it. I mean cause it's bigger on the inside. It is also nice when Doctor Who takes a break from saving the world too. To me, Doctor Who is about exploring things that haven't been seen before. Things out of this world. In a way we were explorers along with Clara and the salvagers. As for the Doctor, he brought this level of intensity when he mentioned he was willing to blow the Tardis up, or when he confronted Clara on who she is. There was even a little teaser into something bigger near the end of the episode. I would like to point out the time rift's appearance this week since it has not been seen since about like season 5.
Now there was somethings about Journey To The Center of the Tardis that made the episode not prefect. First I wonder why the Doctor turned a blind eye towards the idea that the salvagers would be greedy and take pieces from the Tardis. Yes the Doctor did confront him about taking a piece from the Tardis, but really made no effort to take it back or stop him. The Doctor even helped save and protect the guy. Seriously Doctor you promise them a salvage of a lifetime and expect them to take nothing? There was also the plot with the brothers there which seemed a bit meaningless.
I do apologie for my review being late this week. I got very busy suddenly and the review slipped my mind. Although latter reviews will be similar to this in being late due to other priorities. I did enjoy Journey To The Center Of The Tardis though. Who thought that hand thing was very clever. We all knew it was important, but we didn't know how. Best line of the night goes to the Doctor with: "Don't get into a spaceship with a madman. Didn't anybody ever teach you that?" Nice seeing you Tardis!
What was your favourite room on the Tardis? Do you think there is more to the Tardis than we saw?
