The scene opens in a karoke bar where Catherine is telling Tess and Heather about her boyfriend troubles and that he is going to go cold turkey on him. Meaning no more getting involved with his life (ya right). Later in the evening, Alex stops by Catherine's apartment to ask permission to take Vincent to her cabin for one night. Talk about awkward. Anyways, still pretending to be Vincent's handler, Catherine says yes in her attempts to stay out of Vincent's life. Alex is pleased and leaves. Vincent later confronts Catherine during her jog about her talk with Alex and informs her that he plans to tell Alex about what he is. Catherine tells Vincent that she is staying out of his life and that she is giving him cold turkey. As work, Catherine discovers that the police are onto Alex's drug stealing, and are preparing a raid on her plan. Catherine does what she needs to do to protect Vincent and during the raid she discovers a bug that belongs to Murfield. Showing JT, they realize Murfield is back, and Catherine soon heads out to warn Vincent. Meanwhile, JT is burdened with stopping Evan from publishing his finds.
Cold Turkey finally was a good episode for Murfield to return, and Beauty and the Beast used them well this time. They felt more like a threat and had actually planned a better plan to get Vincent then before. They actually set bait and a trap to get Vincent. Not to mention the whole Murfield problem wasn't solved by the end of Cold Turkey as they probably will be back sometime in the future. Murfield was also essential in bringing Catherine and Vincent back together as Vincent is forced to face reality that he will always be hunted. In a way, Vincent was snapped out of his fantasy with Alex that offered; a life free and helping people. This helps Vincent to accept what he has now and how good hes got it. On the Catherine side of things, we see how much she cares for Vincent despite whats all been said and done. I also loved the little side story with Evan and JT, and how JT was determined to stop Evan from showing the world Vincent's DNA. In addition to finally getting some back story on Evan.
Now despite Catherine claiming to be giving Vincent cold turkey, she didn't do it very well now did she? As much it was touching to see her doing things to help Vincent, she didn't do a very good job of saying, "no". Not to mention it was a bit out of character to be clamoring after a guy, even if it was Vincent. Catherine's character is described as a tough as nails cop, but yet she's reduced to, um, a love struck girl? I also love how Vincent is totally not caring about staying hidden with Alex, and was considering making stops at public places. What happened to staying incognito? Final point, it seems the Batb writers decided to put an (off screen) end to Tess's relationship with her boss. It seems they also have realized that it was a bit too much drama for Batb.
Overall, I liked Cold Turkey as it brought Murfield back into the picture and Vincent and Catherine closer. I am also liking where they are taking Evan in the series and looking forward to seeking how it plays out in the end. Hopefully for team VinCat. Also during the episode a Tweetathon with the hashtag "
Do you think Catherine should forgive Vincent? How is the next move for Team Evan and JT? Did you join in on the Tweetathon?
