Supernatural "Everybody Hates Hitler": Golems and Nazis, Oh My!

Supernatural continues on with the Men of Letters plot as the Sam and Dean find what Dean calls, "the Batcave", the Men of Letter's HQ. Once you heard the title Everybody Hates Hitler, you probably knew you were in for a fun one, and Supernatural once again delivered it in typical Supernatural style. Everybody Hates Hitler relied on Supernatural's usual strengths of humor, strong plot and brotherly teamwork. I would like to also point out that Supernatural has brought back the Winchester's saving each other again which is a real treat. Over the last few seasons it seemed like the Winchesters could basically take on anything by their selves (not counting Sam's breakdown which he couldn't help himself) and didn't need each other. Now they are calling each other for back-up, which is nice to see the brotherly bond working it's magic.

Supernatural took us back to the past to Germany during the world into (surprise) a nazi compound which was under attack. This scene first introduced us to the golem who took bullets like nothing and walked through fire. Now to the present (or whatever Supernatural considers to be present in it's timeline), Sam and Dean locate the Men of Letter's compound, and using the key from Henry they unlock it and head inside. While the Winchester settle into their new place, Rabbi Isaac Bass discovers something he shouldn't have and quickly hides the book from the man following him. The Rabbi soon is set on fire inside a local pub, and the Winchesters hear about it two weeks later. Around doing the usual checks (Garth, Kevin and Castiel), Sam brings up Rabbi Isaac Bass's strange case, and they soon head out to investigate. Sam hits the library and Dean hits the bar, and they both begin to notice that they were being followed. Thus they meet Aaron (Rabbi Isaac Bass's grandson), and his Golem. Aaron tells them about a nazi group of necromancers called the Thule Soceity, and that his grandfather was onto something. So they head to the library to see what Aaron's grandfather had dug up that was worth killing for.

Supernatural really has come a long way since season 7 and has returned to it's former glory in a way with Jeremy Carver. Like the title promised, Supernatural featured some nazis and, the Winchester got to beat up some nazis like the bad asses they are. I also really loved the golem, and not because he made Jared look small (which is a feat all on it's own). The Golem was honest and was fun to watch, especially the scene where he got shot with the dart and just kept walking and grabbed the culprit. Even his master Aaron was likable as he admit he made mistakes, but was willing to help and didn't whine (extra points for that) the while time. He could even be a potential ally for Sam and Dean in the future. As I mentioned above, I love how the Winchesters are relying on each other again in small things like back-up or stopping some nazis. What's even better now is that the Winchesters have a home again after everything.

There is nothing really I hated about Everybody Hates Hitler, so I had to look around to see if there was anything that wasn't properly explained. Like how the HQ of the Men of Letters got power and water. Supernatural didn't bother explaining how it worked and used Dean tell the audience this. An IGN review pointed out that what the dart did exactly was not explained, and the audience was left to guess what it did. It was also very easy solution when the Golem snapped the Necromancer's neck. I would like to know how the Nazis managed to set Rabbi Isaac Bass on fire as well, and why they didn't try to use it again. This didn't ruin the enjoyment of Everybody Hates Hitler though.

I wasn't sure Everybody Hates Hitler was going to turn out and Supernatural was planning to do this time with itself, but I am glad it turned out the way it did. I now have a favorite supernatural creature with the Golem (cause it's awesome) and the Winchesters have a potential new ally. I also hope that the "batcave" (sounds much cooler than the Men of Letters HQ) doesn't get destroyed anytime soon. Although I do wonder if it's angel and demon proofed? It could be a problem in the future. For now, both Sam and Dean are content for the moment. Next week, Kevin Tran is back!

Did you like the Golem? Do you think the necromancers will come back again?
