Supernatural 'A Little Slice of Kevin': Welcome Back Castiel

In this week's episode Supernatural saw the return, and I mean the true return, of Castiel. I swear Season 8 is on a roll this year, as with one hiccup, Supernatural has been doing good and keeping the audience wanting more. I find myself every week wanting more and unable to wait for the next episode in line to air. A Little Slice of Kevin brought back two of Supernatural's greatest characters; Castiel and Kevin. For fans of Castiel, this was your episode as Castiel was back in action and helping the Winchesters. In addition to the audience seeing how Dean got out Purgatory and what really happened.

So Supernatural wasted in time in bringing Castiel back as Dean gets a glimpse of his thought lost friend walking along the highway. Dean is clearly shaken by this, and Sam notices while saying, " You look like you've--well, I was gonna say "You look like you've seen a ghost," but you'd probably be stoked." All Supernatural fans knows this to be true while we all are grinning like idiots. So Dean goes in the bathroom to clean up and out of nowhere Castiel appears again, with a "Hello Dean". With both Winchesters, Castiel reveals that he doesn't remember how he got out of Purgatory, which irritates Dean a little. Then Castiel goes to clean himself up, and I have wonder, does Castiel know how to use a shower and razor? Or even does he do all that, with his powers? Oh the questions.

Moving on, the Winchester look over the list of missing people and as Sam says them out loud, Castiel mentions the exact names mentioning that they are the names of this generation of prophets. In this scene the question of where is Chuck finally popped up. If you think about, they never really answered what happened to him, and Castiel mentions that Chuck could possibly be dead since Kevin Tran is now the prophet. Speaking of my favorite advance placement prophet, he is still on the run with his mother who has now fully recovered from her possession from Crowley. Although it has made her very paranoid and a bit stupid as she hires a witch to make a demon bomb. It should not come as a surprise they were double crossed and Kevin lands in Crowley's hands again. Mrs. Tran is forced to call the Winchesters for help.

A Little Slice of Kevin did not disappoint in the Castiel department as Supernatural brought our favorite angel back into the picture. Castiel was once again an ally and friend to the Winchesters despite not being at full power. He was able to save Kevin and tell Dean what he needed to hear, and it was about time that Dean was told that not everything was his fault. Even considering what happened in Purgatory. Castiel was not the only one shining this episode as Crowley took some spotlight as he was up to his devious ways. Crowley tried bring nice, but got nothing, so he did what he did best, and tortured someone. When he did finally get his way, he sat there playing with a pinwheel. A pinwheel. How hilarious is that? That is something I would expect from Ben Edlund. Despite being a wallflower this episode, Sam get managed to pull off pretending a phone call while doing an exorcism and use a demon bomb this episode. Go Sammy. Of course nothing compares to this:

Now A Little Slice of Kevin did have some faults that were apparent in the episode. The story itself felt slow as A Little Slice of Kevin dragged out its main points through the time of the episode run. But then again that could be because I wanted it to go faster. With Castiel back now, there is now the easy solution of heal that, as Castiel will heal SPOILER's SPOILER back. For Sam fans, Sam was a wallflower this episode, sorry. Although a very tall and moose like wallflower. On another matter, Supernatural cannot simply mention Chuck and guess at what happened. Sooner or later they will need to explain what happened so theories can stop.

So in short, I'm very happy that Castiel is back and bringing a story with him. I feel the Purgatory storyline is about done at this point as we have seen Dean get out of Purgatory. The Castiel story though is worth exploring though and how exactly he got out of Purgatory. In addition to who is this mysterious Naomi character and what part does she play in Season 8? As I always mention, I am very excited for the next episode. I am not excited though to have to wait two weeks until the next episode on November 28, 2012. I swear next week is like a CW holiday or something. Next episode is Hunteri Heroici and Castiel is going to become a hunter. Seriously.

So next week I have decided to post an opinion piece of the Supernatural ships, but more specifically, Desitel and my opinion of it. May you all survive the mini hellatus.
