About: They are the next evolutionary leap of mankind, a generation of humans born with paranormal abilities — the Tomorrow People. Stephen Jameson stands at the crossroads between the world we know and the shifting world of the future. Up until a year ago, Stephen was a “normal” teenager — until he began hearing voices and teleporting in his sleep, never knowing where he might wake up. Now, Stephen’s issues have gone far beyond the usual teenage angst, and he is beginning to question his sanity. In desperation, Stephen decides to listen to one of the voices in his head, and it leads him to his first encounter with the Tomorrow People — John, Cara and Russell — a genetically advanced race with the abilities of telekinesis, teleportation and telepathic communication. The Tomorrow People are being hunted down by a paramilitary group of scientists known as Ultra. Led by Dr. Jedikiah Price, Ultra sees the Tomorrow People as a very real existential threat from a rival species, and the outcast group has been forced to hide out in an abandoned subway station just beneath the surface of the human world. Trading in secrets, Jedikiah offers Stephen the chance for a normal life with his family and best friend, Astrid, if he will help in the struggle to isolate and eradicate the Tomorrow People. On the other hand, Cara, John and Russell offer Stephen a different type of family and a home where he truly belongs. Unwilling to turn his back on humanity or the world of the Tomorrow People, Stephen sets out on his own path — a journey that could take him into the shadowy past to uncover the truth about his father’s mysterious disappearance, or into an unknown future with THE TOMORROW PEOPLE.
Our Opinion: Like Arrow, The Tomorrow People looks like it's the CW's golden goose. This is the one series out of all the new ones that is being talked about most. Even some early screenings already that have critics commenting on how good it was. The CW even went as far as pairing it up with Arrow on Wednesday to let the Amells take over. Whats even better is that Mark Pellegrino in is The Tomorrow People and that alone is reason enough to watch, right? To me The Tomorrow People feels like a cross between Percy Jackson and The X-Men. The main character has been a bit of an outsider and thinks he is slightly crazy until he meets some people who change his life forever. I can expect The Tomorrow People to be about a boy discovering himself and this new world around him. So why aren't I more excited about this? Sure it does look interesting, but nothing that sets my geek radar off. It seems to have a good premise with the whole war, mystery and self discovery plot line.
I don't doubt that The Tomorrow People is going to be a very interesting series. I mean who doesn't love a good sci-fi series. At first I was excited about this series, but as time went by I started to lose interest in it. I do plan to check out the Pilot though to see if it's worth watching. To see if it's worth adding an extra hour of television on Wednesdays. I generally like superpowers and the supernatural elements, but I think The Tomorrow People will be leaning on the superpower element like Smallville did.
