Reading Is Fundamental

Castiel and Meg.
After weeks and weeks of wondering (or not caring), the master Leviathan plan is out. The Girl With The Dungeons And Dragon Tattoo reminded us that the Leviathans have a plan, and Bobby fills us in on what he discovered. I was wondering why in Of Grave Importance Bobby didn't tell them then. I guess the producers wanted to set this episode to be the one to reveal the master hidden plan which it been hinted at across the season. Although Sam and Dean attempting to figure it out was the hint Supernatural gave us, and Bobby was the answer. What makes The Girl With The Dungeons And Dragon Tattoo interesting as well is the guest star appearance of Felicia Day.

The Girl With The Dungeons And Dragon Tattoo is a Leviathan heavy episode and re-introducing us to the evil head hunco Dick Roman. So after Bobby informs Sam and Dean on the Leviathan plan, they get an email from Frank. Frank who is presumed dead, had installed pre-written message to be sent to Sam and Dean when someone is attempting to hack his drive. This someone, just happens to be Charlie Bradbury (portrayed by the lovely Felicia Day), an IT tech working at Roman Enterprises. Given 3 days to crack it, Charlie begins hacking it, but gets more than what she bargained for. Charlie ends up looking in the hard drive and learns about the Leviathans. What makes it sink in more for Charlie is that she see one of her co-workers get eaten by a Leviathan.

Charlie soon bumps in Sam and Dean as she is attempting to run. Even presumed dead, Frank still manages to pull one over and turned her webcam on so Sam and Dean could find her. I hope that Frank is alive, because he was an interesting character. So after answering question, they realize that they need to take a look at Dick's email to see what hes up to. Charlie agrees to help since Sam and Dean can't go in there since every Leviathan knows their faces.

Bobby did more this episode then just show up to give Sam and Dean a message. He wanted to help them, but is obviously tied to the flask. Sam and Dean are worried though that Bobby is going to become an angry spirit. So when Bobby follows Charlie, he comes face to face with Dick Roman (he can't see Bobby though). Their fears are solidified when Bobby sends Dick Roman flying and accidentally breaks Charlie's arm. Supernatural isn't the kind of show to sugar coat anything, and there is a strong possibility that Bobby could become one of the ghosts he used to hunt. This takes a stronger meaning to "the hunter becomes the hunted".

Back to the episode, Charlie managed to flirt her way to Dick office with the help of Dean and hacked into Dick's email. One of the emails tells that Dick has something coming in the mail and Sam and Dean head out to intercept it. Sam and Dean have worn disguises before, but never to hide themselves completely. So its a bit cool to see them pull an Ocean's 11 on the Leviathans. So inside of receiving the clay tablet, Dick got a borax bomb instead.

Overall The Girl With The Dungeons And Dragon Tattoo was a great episode. It was humorous and full of pop culture references. There was even a nod toward the late Kim Manners with the line, "Kick it in the ass". I think its official that Robbie Thompson is one of my favorite writers of Supernatural this season. He always manages to combine humor within story and tells it very well. When the title itself plays on the fact that Charlie is a nerd with not a dungeons and dragons tattoo, but a princess Lena tattoo.

The next episode Reading Is Fundamental, we see the return of Castiel, but in a different light. You can see that in the clip below. So Castiel finally wakes up from his coma and Meg calls Sam and Dean. Somewhere else, a teenager named Kevin Than gets struck by lightning and becomes a prophet. Thinking Kevin holds the key to defeating the Leviathans, Sam and Dean track him down. But nothing is ever easy in Supernatural as two Archangels want to use Kevin for their own needs. This episode we can also expect to see what the clay tablet really holds, and an angel battle.
