Voice Actor Changes
Example of Voice Actor changes. Due to unfortunate circumstances, Justin LIEBRECHT could not do the voice of Lavi and was taken over for Season 2 pt 1 by Chris Patton.
Does changing the voice actor do change anything? It all depends on the situation that causes the need for a change of actors. In the case of D. Gray Man character Lavi, the actor was changed due to injury of the original actor, Justin Liebrecht. It is quite unfortunate that he got into a car accident and was not able to travel. So in need of the season 2 pt 1 release, they used Chris Patton instead. Chris Patton is not new to the scene and is best known as Sousuke Sagara from Full Metal Panic!.
Originally I didn't know about the change in actors until I was researching people for the next Voice Actor of the Week. When I went to Chris Patton's page, I noticed that he was listed for it. So I did a little investigation and found out it was true.
Now for other animes, it could be for long running shows like Pokemon. From back then to today, Ash Ketchup's (is that how you spell his name?) voice has changed. Only person whose voice has not changed is Brock. But randomly changing voice actor is a no no is my books. It rarely happens but when it does, it causes an uproar. My opinion, only change it IF its necessary.
