Beauty and the Beast "Guess Whos Coming To Dinner": The Breaking Point of Everything

So um, Guess Whos Coming To Dinner was a real shit fest right? No more making excuses, and everything built up in the last few episodes come to a head. Then there moments where I was wondering where Batb was going with this and whose bright idea was to do it. Anyways, Guess Whos Coming To Dinner had our scooby gang trying to figure out who Vincent's handler is in order to put an end to it all. I mean, it has to end sometime right? What made Guess Whos Coming To Dinner an interesting episode (not to mention frustrating) was the fact that our heroes didn't find the answers they wanted easily. They didn't figure out who the handler was and what Tori could do until later in the episode. Let's not forget the fact that Batb writers wanted to tie everything up with a Thanksgiving bow (isn't this a bit early? Next week could have been a bit closer). Then again, the mid-season finale is coming soon as Batb nears the 10 episode count and Christmas.

So Guess Who Coming To Dinner starts off with Catherine's father, Bob (I just finally committed his name is memory) and his minion are setting up a trap to kill Vincent since Gabe was right about Vincent being the last target. Elsewhere, things are getting hot and heavy for Catherine and Vincent as they are making out on Catherine's bed, when she remembers how he ripped out that man's heart. She was still concerned about his sudden loss of control, but Vincent claims he is alright. Then Bob calls Catherine for Thanksgiving dinner, but she declines for a evening with Vincent. At the station, Catherine is preparing for thanksgiving dinner with Vincent when Tess drops that Gabe thinks Vincent might be the next target on the list. Catherine is angered by this and confronts Gabe about it, who tells her he wanted more evidence before telling her. Elsewhere, Vincent is about to walk into a trap when he realizes he doesn't hear anything inside the building. Realizing it's a trap, Vincent leaves and heads back to the houseboat where the scooby gang are trying to figure out who his handler is. They do figure out that the handler is FBI, but not sure who. So Catherine gets the bright idea to go to Bob's dinner with Vincent to get some answers about who the handler is. Bob, has other plans though.

Despite the little Thanksgiving thing, Batb has managed to pull itself out it's runt it's been in recently. Guess Whos Coming To Dinner was really a turning point for this season as everything really just came to a head. Over the last few episodes, Catherine has been ignoring the fact that Vincent has been hunting other beasts and killing them. Not to mention the fact that he doesn't remember her very much either. Enough is enough for her now, and Catherine is taking a stand against all that crap. Honestly, you can't blame her for being angry about that either. Not to mention what Vincent later on with SPOILER! Although it could be credited to Vincent's beast side. I love that the Batb writers have taken into account that there is animal instincts within the beast and the reactions it has with other beasts. Love how there is still some beast mythology to explore since Vincent has destroyed Murfield and all the other beasts. Guess Whos Coming To Dinner did have it's cute moments like that moment in the bedroom with VinCat. You know what I mean. Now Bob, isn't he a cunning bastard? He wants his daughter to like to him, but wants to off her boyfriend in addition to manipulating everything in the background. He is even using Catherine to finish what he started. Gotta love it when Batb gets smart.

So, much as Guess Whos Coming To Dinner was a game changer there are some things that just irk me. In a way, I'm getting slightly tired with Batb, but the fact that I started it way back with the Pilot (and the fact I have nothing better to do on Sundays), I can't let it go. Batb's true audience is young females who love the drama of relationships and all that. Why did I get into this again? Gonna call out to Vincent and his douchy behaviour this week. First, he seriously thought Catherine was going to stay out of it and stop investigating his handler? She cares about you, moron. Then you go and SPOILER another SPOILER because you can't resist your beast instincts a little bit? Do not upset the VinCat fan. Also, what do you guys think of JT and Tess? Also what happened to JT's girlfriend back in season 1? I'm still debating if it's weird or not. No cheesy lines this week, but a cheesy plot center of thanksgiving dinner. In television history 8 out of 10 moments that are centered on thanksgiving dinner usually end in disaster. Yes, I made this stat up myself. No, I don't have proof.

I do have to apologize to those of you who do enjoy Batb, and there are times where I do too (remember the first few episodes of season 2?), but it is getting tiring. I really do like how Guess Whos Coming To Dinner moved the plot along and diving into it's main arc besides the whole thanksgiving thing. I personally I have nothing against thanksgiving, I just don't like when shows misuse it. Also when its not even near the time period (American thanksgiving is like 2 weeks away). Unless it's your mid-season finale before the holidays, then its alright. I'll try to be nicer to Batb next week, I promise. Try is the key word.

What do you think of JT and Tess? What is your theory on the ending?
