Lets Put A Name To That Face: Keegan Connor Tracy

Keegan Connor Tracy in Supernatural.
Sorry this is a bit late, yesterday it kinda slipped my mind. So I'll just be posting a day late. Since I was recently on something involving Keegan Connor Tracy, I decided who better then to blog about?

Keegan Connor Tracy was born in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. She wasn't always going to be an actress, since she first started out studying business and later psychology. After 4 years of study she returned to Vancouver. In 1998, she had her first acting role in the tv series Breaker High.

Tracy began appearing in a number of tv shows soon after. In 2001-2003, Tracy broke out in the films Blackwoods, and Final Destination 2. Soon after she began to appear in tv shows like Dark Angel, Jake 2.0, and Stargate SG-1. In 2005, she appeared in the film White Noise as Rosie. Tracey has made appearances on well known shows as well like Battlestar Galactica, Supernatural, Eureka and V.

Keegan Connor Tracy has most recently appeared on the recent hit show Once Upon A Time as Blue Fairy / Mother Superior. It is most likely she will appear again on Once Upon A Time, but it unknown where else she will quest appear on. You can see where shes going on IMDB. For now, I leave you with a clip of her in Once Upon A Time as Mother Superior.

Doctor Who: Asylum of the Daleks

Matt and Karen with a Dalek.
Who is ready for Season 7? Well it just became a reality when BBC announced the title of the premiere episode. The episode will be titled Asylum of the Daleks. Meaning the Doctor's archenemy is back and we can expect to see a lot of running from them. From the daleks I mean.

I am also curious about how the ponds rejoin the Doctor. Nothing has been revealed yet. Well not that I could find any way. Well any way I have to wait until the fall to see what will really happen. Although I think its safe to say that if Doctor Who is at Comic Con this year, we might get more spoilers towards the upcoming series.

Also did I mention the fact that there will be an advance screening of the episode at an charity event in August? Yup, Asylum of the Daleks will be screened at a charity event. So if you can't wait, there might be a shakey cam recording the episode for you. Or a clip. For now, we will have to wait for word on the official premiere date for its release on television. For now, I leave you with the trailer for season 7.

Rock of Ages brings the musical experience

Rock of Ages Promotional poster.
From stage musical to the big screen, Rock of Ages has widen it's audience with the release of the film. Rock of Ages offers the prospect of a good time and your favorite old tunes from the 80's. Although, despite Rock of Ages not so good reviews, audiences must realize the fact that the real purpose behind the show is to bring you songs that make you want to sing along with it.

The basic story of Rock of Ages is centered around two people; small town girl Sherrie and city boy Drew, who meet while trying to achieve their dreams. They both work at the Bourbon, a place where Rock n' Roll lives. From there the story branches out and introduces us to the other characters of the movie. There is Lonnie and Dennis who also work at the Bourbon, and have a "relationship" together. In addition to Stacee Jaxx, who is the Rock n' Roll icon of the generation. Stace's manager is Paul Gill, who controls and shapes Stacee's career. Summing it up there is the anti-Stacee Patricia Whitmore, the writer Constance and Sherrie's helping hand Justice. The whole story arc is about the survival of Rock n' Roll as well as the romance of two young dreamers.

Rock of Ages is benefits from many of its good qualities. For one, all the actors can sing which is excellent, not to mention the fact that their acting is not effected by this. Who would have thought Tom Cruise could actually sing? I found in this movie that the best moments in Rock of Ages were held by Russell Brand and the monkey called Heyman. Whenever either was on screen, you found yourself laughing. Finally, the tunes belted out in the movie were just so darn catchy, and after the movie you'll find yourself singing the songs.

Rock of Ages wasn't the strongest though, and lacked the flare that needed to draw in audiences. Early reviews were quick to point out that the story wasn't the strongest. I would like to point out that not all musicals don't have great stories to begin with. They have a enough story to make it work though and Rock of Ages story was barely pushing it along. Sherrie and Drew fell in love within moments of meeting each other. Not to mention Sherrie's reason for coming to L.A is a bit rocky. I would like to also point out that when Sherrie is looking for a job she is so worried about being sexually harassed, but ends up working in a strip club.

Overall, Rock of Ages is a good movie. It is directed to those who love the old time Rock n' Roll songs and want to enjoy them. I would not recommend seeing this movie if you don't like: lots of drinking, songs of the 80's, sexual content, suggestive content, and some bro-mance. If you can stand all that, and looking forward to Rock of Ages, go for it. Isn't rock and roll sex, drugs and booze anyways? Although the movie isn't the greatest, I find that viewing it in a cinema is the best experience for the movie. Our rating is:

Wait.

It's worth waiting for it to come on Dvd.

Once Upon A Time: A Tale For All Ages

The cast of Once Upon A Time.
When you hear fairy tales, your brain usually associates it with children stories and good verses evil. Once Upon A Time takes all that and makes it a compelling show to watch. Even the theory of it sound interesting and gathers attention. Once Upon A Time takes the fairy tales we know and love and gives it a twist of its own. Between that and two love/hate bad guys, Once Upon A Time has a formula for success. Once Upon A Time currently has aired only one season so far, but is returning this fall for a second season.

So other than fairy tales coming to life, what is Once Upon A Time about? It is about a town filled with fairy tale character who are cursed and cannot remember their past lives. Not only that, but they can never leave town and time has stopped in Storybrooke. But how did it happen? Well since the Evil Queen was unhappy, she decided that no one else should be happy and decided to take away all their happy endings. Like a every evil plan, there is a loop hole. The loophole's name is Emma Swan, the daughter of Prince Charming and Snow White. Only Emma can break the curse, but theres a problem. She doesn't believe.

Even though Emma is the central title character, Once Upon A Time doesn't drive it's whole focus on her. It has an excellent collection of characters, and uses them in the best way possible. Once Upon A Time gives each character his or her moment to shine and develop even more. Using the fairy tale world and the world in Storybrooke to tell the character's tale before and current in addition to develop them. You also learn what drives them, which is the particular case with the Evil Queen. This causes you to either love or hate the characters.

As I mentioned before, Once Upon A Time has taken some liberties with the fairy tale characters so it would fit into their storyline. Luckily for them, it works very well. viewers are not tuning in to see something told before, but something new and interesting. So whether its killing off the fairy godmother or changing who the beast is, it works.

In short, Once Upon A Time is an excellent show. It's the kind of show that families can sit down and watch and enjoy together. Fairy tales has no age limit, and all ages can relate and enjoy the show. Once Upon A Time has the potential to be a great show. Although I am worried how long can it go before its material begins to go stale? There is such a thing as over doing it. With negative thoughts aside, I'm going to sit back and wait for season two to come. Promo below.

Lost Girl: The Little Show That Could Be

The cast of Lost Girl.
Lost Girl is a Canadian made sci-fi show that has recently made it big. With two seasons under it's belt, Lost Girl has gained its own fan base that spreads beyond the borders. This caused the Showcase original to soon be picked up by Syfy and other notable networks. Lost Girl is a very unique tv show and makes it interesting to watch. Lost Girl has a third season coming sometime in 2012.

Created by Michelle Lovretta, Lost Girl is about a succbus named Bo and her journey to figure out who she is. One day, Bo saves a girl Kenzi, and soon draws attention from the Fae world. Bo is soon thrown into the world of the Fae and finds out that not only that she is Fae, but she must choose a side. In the Fae world there is two sides, the Light and the Dark. Despite her two options, Bo chooses to remain unaligned. Lost Girl is the tale of Bo and how she lives in between everything. As Bo discovers the world of Fae, so does the audience. The world of the Fae has its own mysteries and rules that Bo discovers as she lives in this world with one foot in.

The title Lost Girl really comes from the fact that the main character, Bo, felt lost about herself for many years. Bo is not your damsel in distress, but rather her own knight in Fae armor. Bo can fight, and whip out amazing lines at to insult her enemies. Joining her, is Kenzi, a former con artist, who like Bo is thrown in the world of the Fae, but she doesn't let being human stop her. There is also Dyson, Trick, Lauren, and Hale.

Now with Bo being a succbus, there are some uncomfortable moments depends on what your comfort zone is. Succbus are beings, or Fae who feed on sexual energy, so if you are uncomfortable is sex scenes or nudity, please note this. The other thing is that because Bo feeds on sexual energy, she can go both ways. Dyson is the male interest of Lost Girl and Lauren is the female love interest. You get the idea, and for some people it might be uncomfortable.

Despite the uncomfortable side, Lost Girl is still about an butt kicking succbus and the journey she sets out on. Lost Girl will make you laugh, cry and get absorbed in the action scene. The Fae mythology is quite cool as well. Whether you watch it or not, its your choice. Promo below.

Bones: Chemistry That Solves Crime Well

The cast of Bones.
There are many crime solving shows out there that each have their own twist that gives the show its own unique quality. In fact many prime time shows tend to focus on the sexual tension between the two main characters. Bones is an excellent blend of all of the above and more. With its witty humor and interesting characters you fall in love with, Bones is a thrill to watch. Although it may not be prefect, the higher qualities of Bones makes up for it. Bones currently has seven seasons under its belt and has an eighth coming in the fall of 2012.

The idea for Bones was inspired by real life forensic anthropologist Kathy Reichs. In 2004 Hart Hanson pitched the idea for Bones to Fox. Bones was soon approved and premiered in 2005 with Pilot. Bones was about the partnership between Forensic anthropologist Dr. Temperance Brennan and FBI Agent Seeley Booth. They are joined by the "squints", Angela Montenegro, Jack Hodgins, and Zack Andy. Later additions were made with Dr. Camille Saroyan, and Dr. Lance Sweets. Together, using their expertise, they solve crimes that seem impossible under normal circumstances.

I would first like to point out the relationship between Temperance and Booth. Being the prime time show it is, Bones needed a central romance between two characters. What make Bones great is the fact that it doesn't constantly showcase the relationship, but rather builds it over time. Bones doesn't make the characters constantly fight their attraction, but merely become aware of it over time.  Bones develops an excellent, strong bond between Temperance (or as Booth calls her "Bones") and Booth that eventually turns into mutual feelings in Season 7. The idea of Bones and Booth first began to form around in Season 5 and it took the viewers along for the ride as they watched the two realized their feelings.

Besides the Temperance and Booth characters, Bones introduces other characters that are just as important. There is the artist Angela Montenegro who is computer savy, eccentric and romantic. Jack Hodgins the bug, plant, and slime guy who is a conspiracy theorist as well a genius. Zack Andy is a rational thinker and is an intern studying under Dr. Brennan. Season 2 brought Dr. Camille Saroyan who was formerly a coroner in New York and she soon becomes the head of the forensic department. Dr. Lance Sweets, a young psychologist, arrived in Season 3 to determine the partnership of Booth and Brennan. Each of these characters bring a element to the show and are very essential to the success of Bones. I even found that the relationship between Jack and Angela was very interesting and sweet.

Between all the science, and crime solving Bones is one of the better shows on the tv. Although it is also one of the goriest. Bones is not a show for people who are sensitive to seeing dead bodies, flesh falling off dead bodies, dead bodies being eaten and other examples. When you watch Bones please keep in mind that the show inspires the bodies to be realistic, and so those who don't want to see this graphic material should look for alternative to watch.

Let's Put A Name To That Face: Mitch Pileggi

Mitch Pileggi in Stargate Atlantis.
Mitch Pileggi is an American actor who has had a late start to his career. He originally didn't start out as an actor despite doing some acting in high school. For a few years, Pileggi worked as a defense contractor in Turkey until the Iran revolution. A few years after escaping to Greece, Pileggi resurfaced presumably in America, and in 1982 he first appeared in Mongrel as Woody. He even made a guest appearance on The A-Team in 1985.

In 1994, Pileggi got his big break when he landed a role in The X-Files as Walter Skinner. His role in The X-Files soon made him a sci-fi alum. After The X-Files, Pileggi landed roles in Tarzan, The Mountain, and Daybreak. In 2005, he earned the recurring role of Colonel Steven Caldwell in Stargate Atlantis, and would appear in 22 episodes throughout the series' run. Since then he has made appearances on shows like Castle, Sons of Anarchy, Medium, Supernatural, and Leverage.

Friday Round-Up: Doctor Who, White Collar, and The Listener.

Matt Smith and  Jenna Louise Coleman in Doctor Who.
Hey everyone, its nearing the end of the week so I thought it would be a good time to round up all the television news in one go and post. Not sure if I'm going to be doing this a lot, but it will happen on Fridays I have free during the summer months. So lets look at this week's news.

Doctor Who

BBC has released the first official photo of the new companion, and it has spread across the net. The photo is a above of the Doctor and the new companion. There was rumors though that her name was Clara. We'll see what happens soon enough.

White Collar

USA has been going crazy with promotional for White Collar. There is a trailer and a couple of promos. There is also a couple of photos of the premiere of White Collar here. Some of the guest stars include Mía Maestro and Laura Vandervoort. It looks like the first episode will be titled Wanted. Looking forward to seeing White Collar return this summer.

The Listener

The Canadian drama returned last week with The Bank Job, and Toby soon rejoined the IIB. This week Cold Case Blues aired and Toby is now in a special unit within the IIB. The Listener is a good show and its seems to have its own unique quality to it which makes it interesting. It has definitely a different show than what it was in Season 1. Next week Fefe Dobson guest stars in Curtain Call.

Well thats it boys and girls. Oh by the way, did you ever hear of SuperWhoLock? Its a combination of Supernatural, Doctor Who and Sherlock. An amazing video of it below.

Supernatural Season 7 is a Gooey but Good Mess

Dean, Castiel and Sam in Survival of the Fittest.
With Supernatural 7th season all wrapped up and finished, its time to look at the season overall. By far Supernatural season 7 can be argued as not one of Supernatural's greatest seasons but it did have its moments. In season 7, Supernatural writers needed to find a new big bad as well as a new situation for Sam and Dean. This answer to this question posed was the Leviathans and the need for Sam and Dean to hide. Well not hide, but not been in the view of the Leviathans and the feds.

Season 7 kicked off with Meet The New Boss and Hello Cruel World, and introduced the audience to the Leviathans. In addition to the Sam's hell storyline and the feeling of absolute helplessness that gave you chills watching. Supernatural started off with a nice chilling start which was soon sidetracked to fit in the returning factor of monster of the week like in the early days of Supernatural.

Dean singing to Air Supply.
The first half of season 7 was not Supernatural at its finest with the exception of guest stars and some episodes. And I'm talking episodes like Slash Fiction and The Mentalists. It seemed like Sam and Dean were running around like headless chickens without purpose. Even with the Dean's "I-killed-amy-so-I'm-going-to-drink" story felt  it was simply put there simple to create conflict and storyline. Then Death's Door aired and Bobby's fate was on the line. Despite what the critics said about it, Death's Door was one of the most emotional episodes of Supernatural, and an excellent send off to Bobby. Fans soon found themselves screaming at their tvs and at Sera Gamble when Bobby died and the pure horror on the boys' faces.

Supernatural finally found its grove in the second half of the season despite its multiple hiatuses. The second half started off with Adventures in Babysitting, which was a great episode with great scenes between Dean and Frank. Supernatural continued on, and kept hitting the ball out of the park with episodes like Time After Time After Time, The Slice Girls and Plucky Pennywhistle's Magical Menagerie. Supernatural showed us again that it was still the show we all love and obsess about. In addition to the teasing that Bobby might be still around.

Lucifer annoying Sam.
I can't stress how much I think that the Sam hell storyline was a great area to explore, and in Repo Man they finally explored it. In Repo Man, Supernatural showed us what Sam was seeing everyday with Lucifer. It was great to see Mark Pellegrino again as Lucifer and he made sure we knew how great he was as Lucifer. In fact his appearance in Meet The New Boss was a complete surprise to me. Things took a turn the worst when Sam let Lucifer into his defenses and things went down hill for Sam. You could see how to affected Sam since Lucifer wouldn't let Sam go to sleep. This eventually lands Sam in the mental ward of a hospital. It is truly heartbreaking to see Sam so defeated and Dean's expression when he sees his brother in this state. It must have been said so many time before, but I'll say it again, these boys are great actors and have such great chemistry. Which is why this works so well. Sam eventually gets to the point where his mind is completely gone. Sam's problem is soon transferred to Castiel, which soon became a point in Supernatural history where fans wonder how does it exactly work? In addition to thinking, wasn't that too easy?

Despite taking everything away from Sam and Dean, it is slowly returned in the final episodes of Supernatural. Castiel returned in The Born-Again Identity in time to help a broken Sam, and soon became insane himself. It was revealed in Party On, Garth that Bobby was still around, but sadly the boys couldn't see him. When the boys do get to see Bobby in the end, they begin to worry that he might become a vengeful spirit. At one point I believed that Bobby would become the next big bad despite the part that didn't want Bobby to. Last but not least, the Impala made a grand entrance in Survival of the Fittest.

Castiel touching Kevin's nose.
Season 7 also brought us some new characters we quickly learned to love. In Slash Fiction, we meet Frank Devereaux (portrayed by Kevin R. McNally) a hacker friend of Bobby Singer who helps Sam and Dean. Frank is a conspiracy theorist, but can help Sam and Dean stay off the Leviathan radar. In Season 7, Time For A Wedding, we met Garth Fitzgerald (portrayed by DJ Qualls), a hunter Dean was paired with when Becky brain washed Sam into marrying her. It is truly amazing how long Garth has survived, but Garth is really funny when he comes on screen with all his "swag". My absolute favorite is Kevin Tran who was introduced in Reading Is Fundamental. Kevin is thrown in the world of the supernatural absolutely freaks out about it.

The Leviathans were meant to be this secret force that was everywhere and no one knew where they were hiding. They were meant to be something to give you chills and to scream at your tv for Sam and Dean to run. It had the opposite affect when fans began to complain how lame the Leviathans were. I gave this new big bad the benefit of the doubt for a couple of episodes, but I eventually lost interest. It felt like the Leviathans needed more depth, and a better mission than eat all humans. It almost felt even more sillier when they could be hurt by cleaning products. Although you have to admit, its a bit ironic when a common product was their one weakness. At least Dick Roman did an excellent job as the evil bad guy.

In short, season 7 of Supernatural was good, but it does have its faults. Fans can all look forward to this coming fall with the arrival of season 8. Supernatural is moving Wednesdays at the same time and will premiere some time in October. In addition to Jeremy Carver taking over as showrunner of Supernatural.

For now, I leave with a video showing all of Kevin Trans highlights in Supernatural.

This is also the end of Supernatural Wednesdays. They will turn in October when season 8 airs. I will post any Supernatural spoilers about Season 8 though. Now I'm going to watch the bees, then the flowers. :D

Snow White and the Huntsman Takes a Darker Turn

Kristen Steward and Chris Hemsworth in Snow White and the Huntsman.
Before I get down to to, I would like to bring forward the fact that my review might slightly altered due to the fact that I, myself, am not a fan of Kristen Steward and her Twilight franchise. Now thats been said, lets get down to business.

Snow White and the Huntman was one of the two versions of Snow White that was released this year. This version took the beloved character of Snow White down a darker path. It took the elements that made Snow White and twisted them to fit the plot and theme that movies developed. This caused the movie to spend a little too much time on developing how bad the queen was.

In the beginning of the story it began with Snow White's birth and childhood. Everything changed when her mother died and her father had "saved" a beautiful maiden from a mysterious black army. Too bad she was an immortal man hater, and she married the king and killed him.  She soon became the evil queen and imprisoned Snow White. Years later we find Snow White locked in a tower and the Queen hears of a way to became immortal forever; get Snow White's heart. Snow manages to escape with a nail she just noticed, and heads into the forest to hide. In order to get Snow White, the Queen hires the Huntsman (Hemsworth). The Huntsman does find Snow, but surprise, he was tricked by the Queen, and Snow asks him to help her get to the Duke. Together the two head off to the Duke's keep.

The liberties they took in the movie were interesting I must say, although sometimes they were misused. I found the beginning part of the movie very slow, but it picked up near the middle. I also found the means of Snow White's escape a bit random, like finding a horse just randomly waiting for her. There are a number of excuses of why these things happened, but I think it should have been better explained in the beginning. As for Kristen Steward, it was like they intentionally didn't give her too much lines, and she just basically ran around whimpering throughout the movie. They also decided to create a love triangle between Snow White, the Huntsman and William. Kristen Steward in a love triangle? Who would thought.

Snow White and the Huntsman did have its good points as well. It created this wonderful environment and clash between good and evil. This was shown with the dark forest and the sanctuary with all the mystical creatures within. Which included a creature that looked a lot like the deer thing from the animated movie Princess Mononoke. Chris Hemsworth did a good job as well with the material he was given, and he showed his experience in combat scenes due to his previous role in Thor. Charlize Theron was great as the evil Queen Ravenna as she practically oozed off the evil vibe.

Snow White and the Huntsman was not as terrible of a movie as I thought it would be. Although it is not great by any means. Snow White and the Huntsman shouldn't have been as long, and would have done well shorter. I found myself wondering, "is it done yet?" a fair bit. The ending of the movie was decent and I love the fact they didn't drag out the relationships too much and turn it into another love triangle Twilight movie. My advise for this movie is to give it a shot, or wait for it to come on dvd. If you choose not to watch it, your not missing too much. Although missing performances by Charlize Theron and Chris Hemsworth. Check out the trailer below.

White Collar Season 4 Preview

Peter Burke and Neal Caffrey.
With a month away, fans are waiting on edge for one of the best crime shows tv has to offer. A few months ago, I agree with them in my review of White Collar (check it out here). So White Collar threw us a bone a few days ago when they released the Season 4 promo for White Collar. At first I didn't think it was real, but after watching a couple of times, I found it was and got really excited. Can you blame me?

The trailer teases us with what we can expect to see from Season 4. We can expect to see Neal working some cons with good old Mozzie. We can expect Peter angry at the bureau for trying to treat Neal not like a human. We can expect to see Peter looking for Neal. Peter and Neal became really good friends over the history of White Collar, and this was seen in Judgement Day when Peter gave Neal the nod to run. It has also been announced a bunch of guest stars coming onto the set of White Collar in addition to the return of Alex. Either way, I'll be tuning in on July 10, 2012 to watch. Well that is if I have the channel.
