Beauty and the Beast 'Bridesmaid Up!': Would You Make Your Mind Up?

In Beauty and the Beast's mid season finale, it decided to tackle three things at once within 40 minutes or so. It is funny how Batb focused on the final area of the episode to highlight, when throughout the whole episode Catherine had some major inner turmoil going on. She wanted to bring Vincent (we wanted her to do too), but at the same time, she wanted to protect him from the raping eyes that are friends and family. Meanwhile, Evan still pursues the mysterious DNA he found, in addition looking into the man who broke into this lab. Finally, what suffered the most was the little crime story they threw in there, as it was very simple, but not completely pointless.

The episode kicks off in fashion as Catherine let her inner girl out trying on her bridesmaid dress, and telling her sister they are going to "Bridesmaid it up!". She heads back into her room where Vincent is waiting. He complients her, and she complains how she doesn't have a date for the wedding, in addition to slipping in how she wishes Vincent could go with her. This is the whole teasing of "I want you to go with me, but I'm worried" began for the episode, and it continued on for a while. After some small talk, Vincent mentions he has a case for her as he saw a guy who smelled like blood. So Catherine tells Tess to investigate this possible murder while she works with her fellow bridesmaids on plans for the wedding. I'm going to skip that entire scene since it was mostly girly screeches and "Cat why you have no boyfriend?". Sometimes I forget that Beauty and the Beast targets young teenage girls.

Anyways, skipping ahead, Vincent obviously wants to go with Catherine, but due to him being alive being a secret, Catherine doesn't want to risk him and tells him she'll find another date. In addition to going under cover at an dating agency where the potential murderer works at. You know, since Tess was so busy helping Evan track down the guy who broke into the lab (cough JT, cough cough). Although it didn't take long for Catherine to figure out who did it and get locked into having a date. Must say it was quite funny when Vincent volunteered JT to be Catherine's date. Although realizing that Catherine really did care for him, Vincent sneaks into the reception. Then this happened:
I think that image sums it up.

Now despite the three plot lines the writers thought was fun to combine, Bridesmaid Up! did have some good points to it. Vincent and Catherine's relationship has come a long way to this point, where they openly show that they care for one another and willing to protect each other. Vincent really wanted to go with Catherine despite what could happen if his existence was revealed to Murfield. Catherine was the same, but wanted to be with Vincent desperately. Batb played with this all through the episode, and my poor feelings were a mess at the end. I am also liking the happy Vincent, as strange as it was to see him happy, but it was nice to see him smile and joke around. I also really like the Evan plot line as he is investigating the mysterious DNA he is finding at crime scenes. I mean, he even got a grant for research. So my question is now, will he be grabbed by Murfield and help them? Or help Catherine and Vincent along. There is also option C, where he never finds out and marries Heather. Cause that is so going to happen.

Now I really want to strangle the writers for throwing in three different plot lines with each having their own cliffhangers. In addition for making Catherine constantly, and unintentionally rubbing it in Vincent's face that she won't take him to the wedding. You made my heart bleed. The crime plot again suffered under the main plot again, as it was simple and short. Now, I understand that BatB is a show targeted towards teenage girls, but wasn't it really necessary to throw in all that crazy girl stuff? Talking about shoes, make-up and boyfriends like its the end of the world could have been avoided. I wonder how Catherine stayed that long there? I really don't like this mentality that BatB is saying to young girls that they should have boyfriends and be dating. Like your an outcast if you don't have one. There is more to life than boys ladies! Finally, it took Catherine that long to realize she should give it a shot with Vincent? They were meant to be together, as we all have been yelling at our screens.

After one of the most cliched cliffhangers involving a car, Beauty and the Beast really gave shippers of Catherine and Vincent a run as it teased us, and then gave us to love (image above). Really looking forward to seeing how the Evan plot point plays out and how it affects Beauty and the Beast. Also hoping that my fav couple get together, but I foresee some problems in their future (promo). Beauty and the Beast returns January 24, 2013 with new episodes.

Were you happy with the development in Vincent and Catherine's relationship? You think Tess and the others will lay off Cat for not having a boyfriend?
