'Burn Notice' Brings It's A-Game To The Spy Genre

Burn Notice Main Cast for Seasons 1-3.
There is very few spy television shows that I know about and are entertaining. At first look, Burn Notice seems to be another one of those shows, and looked like some serious drama. Well that was the first impression I got from it when I saw the promos anyways. When I finally watched the Pilot for Burn Notice, I instantly got into the show. As a basic spy show, Burn Notice has the conspiracy theory side as well as an comedic, and action packed side. What makes Burn Notice unique is the narrative by Michael Weston (Jeffery Donovan) as he explain to the audience what is going on and the general plan is. It is guaranteed in each episode that you will get a taste of action, humor and plot line development. Burn Notice is currently airing in it's sixth season.

Spies don't get fired, they get burned. Burn Notice follows the life of spy Michael Weston who suddenly finds himself burned and out of a job. Michael soon finds himself in Miami and under FBI watch due to his burned status. Michael is unable to leave Miami, cannot access his bank account and is out of a job. In order to figure out why he was burned, Michael is forced to take up odd jobs to survive with the help of his friends Fiona Glenanne (Gabrielle Anwar) and Sam Axe (Bruce Campbell). Between doing odd jobs, and dealing with this mother, Michael must dig into the conspiracy that is his burn notice.

Burn Notice has a lot going for it that makes it such a success. First and foremost it is the basic storylines the story follows. With the odd plot line here and there, Burn Notice focuses its characters to one goal to do. In most shows this might be a be a bad thing, but Burn Notice is able to pull it off brilliantly. The success is also credited to the strong cast as they are able to develop their characters as well as pull off other characters at the same time (ie. when they go under cover). Burn Notice is able to use the elements its given, like the action and comedy, and make them the highlights of the show. Whether its the character pulling a ridiculous cover id, doing something stupid, or the humorous narration, Burn Notice is able to make you laugh and/or crack a smile. In addition to a sudden urge to eat yogurt.

Now Burn Notice is not prefect as it has some flaws. Not that its a flaw, but its something to know that Burn Notice is more targeted towards the male audience. Just keep that in mind, but it doesn't mean females can't enjoy the show. The narrative style can also feel like the show holding your hand while it goes along to some people as well. I could knit pick at Burn Notice, but its a well done show.

Burn Notice has quickly become one of my favorite television shows. It has action, comedy, great characters and an easy story. Strip down, Burn Notice is the journey of Michael Weston and his friends to discover the truth behind the burn notice. You watch them go undercover and get the bad guys while they blast or shoot their way in. You can get an idea of what Burn Notice is about by watching the trailer below for Season 1.
