Arthur, Matt and Karen on the set of Doctor Who. |
During the hiatus, showrunner Steven Moffat has begun to start teasing fans. One hint he dropped us is that the Ponds' days are number and will be leaving the tardis (I know its not the first time, but this time its permanently). Moffat has even mentioned that it will be heartbreaking. I have a theory on that myself. I think its River Song's time and I think we can all expect to see the final days of River Song and the Doctor's reaction to realizing its time. Karen has stated once she leaves Doctor Who, she doesn't want to return. In fact, she wants to go out on a high note. Yah, we'll see about that.
On a more cheerful note, we're going to meet a new companion to the Doctor, and apparently its someone that Doctor has met before. This lead to many speculation about who will be the next companion, and even online polls. So out go out and google and make your guesses about who will be the next companion. Speaking of the internet, a few months ago word came out that there will be a Doctor Who movie, but that was shot down by Moffat. Personally I'm glad they didn't, cause usually movies are meant for when the show is done and gone. Like Star Trek.
Some special guest stars and writers have been announced. Some of the guest star announced is David Bradley, Rupert Graves and Mark Williams. Can't remember the writers names, but they'll pop up somewhere. I do remember that one was BBC's Being Human create Toby Whithouse.
As for the episode format, they have said that they are aiming for 14 different stories with new creatures, allies and enemies. The Christmas special will be in the middle of the season obviously. Once Season 7 finished, we can expect the 50th anniversary special.
Let the games begin.
