White Collar: It Ain't No Forgery

Neal Caffrey and Peter Burke.
There are so many crime shows on television out there, its hard to count how many. Very few manage to catch that spark that makes them great. White Collar is not just your average cops and robbers show though. White Collar is a show about trust, friendship and relationships. That and solving crime. Each season of White Collar contains 16 episodes (with the exception of Season 1 with 14) that is split up into two parts. White Collar currently has 3 seasons out with a 4th season on the horizon (July 10th).

White Collar is about an unusual partnership between FBI agent Peter Burke and con artist Neal Caffrey. What makes it even more unusual is that Peter was the one who caught Neal in the first place. Peter even caught Neal a second time as well when Neal broke out of prison. In order to find his former girlfriend Kate, Neal makes a deal with Peter to help him with cases using Neal's expertise. Peter takes the deal, Neal is let out on an tracker anklet. The storyline is constantly playing with the idea of trust. Can Peter trust Neal not to run and/or get into trouble? Can Neal trust Peter to have his back and help him find Kate? It plays even more as the seasons play out.

Stripped down, White Collar is about the partnership of Neal and Peter. Neal was a con artist, but now works for the FBI and always has a trick up his sleeve. This seems to get him in trouble with Peter a bit. Peter is a hard working married man, but tends to put the FBI first. As episodes move along, Peter begins to gain a certain amount of trust for Neal, but ends up being put to the test when Neal pulls a job without Peter's knowledge.

White Collar has a great supporting cast that shine in their own way and help the story along. Mozzie is one of Neal's con buddies and has a tendencies to be overly cautious and thinking of conspiracies. Mozzie is like Neal's go to guy and will help Neal no mater what. Elizabeth is Peter's wife who tends to help Peter with cases sometimes and sees the good in Neal when Peter doesn't. To sum it up there is fellow agents Jones and Berrigan who work with Neal and Peter. Each, when called help bring the story along and are loyal to Peter.

White Collar is an excellent blend of action, comedy, and mystery. The chemistry between Tim DeKay and Matt Bomer is excellent and a real treat to watch on screen. Another reason why White Collar is a real treat is that it doesn't play with sexual tension between two actors like most dramas out there do. Nor does it drag it on and on. White Collar is devoted to bringing you a story that makes you smile and figure it out as it goes along. In addition to the relationships that develop along the way. Although despite all this, White Collar is another crime drama show out there along with the many more that air on tv. The choice left is, will you watch it, and ignore its genre stereotype?
